Keeler Ranch
About The Keeler Family
5 Generations of Ranchers
The Keeler Ranch is a family owned and managed ranch in Southwestern New Mexico. Murray Keeler is the head boss, his wife, Judy, is his chief administrative assistant. His daughter, Amanda, along with her husband, Gil Adame, are the straw bosses.
Murray and Judy both love everything relating to agriculture. Their dream of owning a ranch was finally realized in 1979 when they purchased a small ranch in the Bootheel of New Mexico and moved their family to greener pastures. They were able to acquire their second ranch in 2000.
Murray began experimenting with different bull breeds shortly after purchasing the first ranch with its herd of Hereford cows. Through trial and error, he decided Angus bulls best fit his present breeding program.
Having chosen Leachman bulls for their EPDs and found them consistent, he began experimenting with the Leachman feed efficiency bulls. He was not disappointed. Recent carcass yields, from his retained steers, reflect promising results.
In their many years of ranching, it has always been Murray’s mission to produce a quality calf that will perform, not only for him, but for everyone along the production line, including the final buyer, the customer.
Murray continues to manage both ranches for profitability, efficiency and sustainability. Judy’s mission is to keep it a family operation, supporting the integrity and individualism of their family. They both hope all their hard work will help preserve the Western ranching traditions, while providing quality of life for future generations.
